The clinics, which will feature exempt bowlers from the Denny’s PBA Tour along with PBA Regional Tour stars, will run one day prior to the start of PBA Regional Tour events at each of the respective sites.
Eugene McCune and Ken Abner will lead the PBA Central Region’s youth clinic taking place at Georgetown Bowl (260-749-9610) in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Friday, Aug. 24, from 5:30-7 p.m. The clinic is running in conjunction with the 22nd Annual Bud Light Fort Wayne Open. McCune is coming off a 2006-07 Denny’s PBA Tour campaign which saw him finish 34th in the PBA World Point Rankings while Abner currently leads the PBA Central Region points race.
In the Midwest Region, PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber and fellow exempt bowler Jeff Carter, will be at Super Bowl (815-223-5085) in Peru, Ill., for the region’s youth clinic, Friday, Aug. 24 from 4-5 p.m., held in conjunction with the Illinois Valley Classic. Weber owns 34 Denny’s PBA Tour titles and a record-tying eight Majors, while Carter is coming off his first year as an exempt bowler on the Denny’s PBA Tour highlighted by two championship round appearances on ESPN.
The South Region will be at Royal Z Lanes (803-788-9209) in Columbia, S.C., for the Columbia Open where two-time Denny’s PBA Tour titlist Ritchie Allen and first-time Denny’s PBA Tour exempt bowler Ken Simard will host a clinic Thursday, Aug. 23 from 4-5:30 p.m.
The Southwest Region rounds out the group with the Greenville Open at DB’s Sports Grill and Bowling (903-455-2065) in Greenville, Texas. Dino Castillo, who earned an exemption on the 2007-08 Denny’s PBA Tour by finishing as the top non-exempt bowler in the 2006-07 PBA World Point Rankings, and 2003-04 PBA Rookie of the Year Chris Johnson will host a clinic on Friday, Aug. 24, from 10-11:30 a.m.
