Hurt shoulder

Postby jen_1987 » Sun Apr 05, 2009 11:30 am

Lately, everytime I bowl my shoulder hurts by the end of the night. I must be using a wrong technique. Anyone have any tips to take pressure off my shoulder? Is my ball too heavy? I only use a 12 pound ball.

Do you stretch before you start bowling? This is key. I always try to move my arms and stretch out a bit before throwing the ball...then the first 2 or 3 balls I throw i just try to loosen everything up.

How long have you been throwing a 12 lb ball? The longer you throw with it, the more comfortable it will be to throw.

Did you do something outside of bowling that would cause your shoulder to hurt when you rotate it?

An idea would be to slow your approach down a little...this will decrease your speed making the wear on your shoulder slightly less.

I agree with stretching. The older I get, the more I really need to warm up before I bowl. Get your shoulders nice a loose, and bowl a few slwoer practice frames before you get going. That should help in the future. Heh, maybe will help you bowl a bit better too.
